Somalia: Government Arrests Prominent Businessman on Al-Shabaab-related Supports.

 Sunday, 18 October 2020. Haji Abukar Omar was arrested by the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) in Mogadishu last night. In an interview with Kulmiye Radio, which will be released today, Abukar Omar Adan said, "I support al-Shabaab in principle and I want the infidels in Halane to be killed.

The arrest of Haji Abukar comes after he gave an interview to a radio station about the principles of Al Shabaab and his support for some of their principles. He also went on to answer a question, do you support the terrorist bombings? He replied that it was up to them to decide the purpose of the bombings, but he did not answer.

In the interview, Haji Abukar made it clear that he supports the principles of extremist groups and the elimination of the "infidels" in the country and this has hastened his arrest.

"I have never had anything in common with any politician. I have no interest in Al-Shabab’s principles. I want the destruction of non-believers in the country, I am lying to you, I will not be afraid of anyone,” he stressed.

The state of their strong fears of terrorism, the government afraid this to pave the way for anyone to support al-Shabaab. He is reported to be held under house arrest.

Meanwhile, Somali National Security and Intelligence Agency forces also arrested Abdullahi Kulmiye Adow, a journalist who interviewed Haji Abukar of Kulmiye Radio in Mogadishu.

The director of Kulmiye Radio Burhan Dini Farah who spoke to the media said that NISA forces arrested journalist Abdullahi K. Adow last night and they had no warrant for his arrest.

Burhan said the arrest of our journalist was only related to an interview he had given a few days ago with businessman Haji Abukar Omar Adan, who said in an interview that he supported Al Shabaab principles.

The interview was expected to be broadcast by Kulmiye Radio on Saturday at 10:00 am, but was canceled due to a request from elders and intellectuals from the Haji Abukar clan. Also, a small portion of the interview was taken off by Radio Kulmiye from YouTube.
