Armenia plans to recruit people from Greece to fight in the disputed territory

Armenia’s top officials have confirmed that the country is going to bring Armenian origin citizens from Greece to fight in the occupied territory of Azerbaijan.

The secretary to the president of Azerbaijan, Hikmet Haziyev, said that they have got information about Armenia’s plan that they will be bringing people from western countries to fight in the disputed region as mercenaries.

"We call on those states to stay away from such provocations against Azerbaijan and to take measures. Citizens of these countries will become targets if they participate in military operations," he said.

He went on to add that Armenians have been attempting to enter the cyberspace of Azerbaijan. The official claimed that apart from the Armenians occupying the disputed area, journalists are also staying in those areas working for Armenian forces, who are illegally staying in the area.

He alleged that these foreign reporters were brought by Yerevan to disrupt the reputation of Azerbaijan and now whatever happens in the region, Armenia will be responsible for it.

"They carry out cyber attacks on the information space of Azerbaijan. This problem must be resolved and the relevant authorities must take necessary measures in this regard," he added.

The clash broke out on September 27 between the two nations and the UN has ordered to de-escalate tensions as fast as possible. Even after the order, the two nations have been fighting for over eight days now which has led to many villages being destroyed.

The people of Nagorno-Karabakh are locked in the house for 8 days. Azerbaijan's army lost over 3,000 servicemen since the war broke out. One of the reports suggested that these bodies of the servicemen are left in the neutral zone and nothing is being done for their transportation.

Azerbaijan had earlier declared a state of war following Armenia’s border violations.
