President Joe Biden Issues Warning About Donald Trump's Threat in the 2024 Election

During a public address in Pennsylvania's Blue Bell on January 5, President Joe Biden expressed concern over the potential threat posed by former President Donald Trump's bid to reclaim the White House in the upcoming 2024 election. Biden's remarks came a day before the third anniversary of the violent attack on the US Capitol, orchestrated by Trump supporters seeking to maintain his presidency. On this occasion, Biden also bestowed America's second-highest civilian award upon 12 individuals who played a crucial role in defending the Capitol during the January 6, 2021, incident.

Reflecting on the events of that fateful day, Biden stated, “Three years ago tomorrow…the violent mob stormed the United States Capitol…For the first time in our history, insurrectionists had come to stop the peaceful transfer of power in America." He vividly described the chaos, emphasizing the unprecedented nature of the attack, including the smashing of windows, shattering of doors, and the erection of gallows outside the Capitol.

Drawing attention to Trump's involvement, Biden underscored the former president's role in the Capitol attack. He remarked, "Inside, they hunted for Speaker Pelosi. The House was chanting as they marched through and smashed windows, ‘Where’s Nancy?’ Over 140 police officers were injured, and lives were lost due to the events of that day, a fact I witnessed firsthand as Jill and I attended the funeral of police officers who died in the aftermath," as reported by AP.

Biden directly attributed the chaos and fatalities to Trump's falsehoods, stating, "Because of Donald Trump’s lies, they died because these lies brought a mob to Washington." He continued to express concern over Trump's attempts to rewrite the narrative surrounding January 6, asserting that Trump is attempting to distort history just as he tried to undermine the election results.

The President reaffirmed his stance, emphasizing the need for introspection as a nation. He stated, "We all know who Donald Trump is. The question we have to answer is who are we?"

Trump is currently facing 91 criminal charges related to his efforts to overturn the 2020 election results. The Supreme Court is set to address whether Trump can be barred from the ballot due to his attempts to undermine the election. In response, Trump, while speaking in Iowa, accused Biden of exploiting George Washington's legacy to attack him and issued a warning, declaring, "This election is your last chance to save America."
