Botswana supports Saudi Arabia’s bid to host World Expo 2030 in Riyadh
Mokgweetsi Masisi, the President of Botswana, met with Ahmed Kattan, Adviser at the Saudi Royal Court with the rank of minister, during his visit to Botswana.
According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), Ahmed Kattan conveyed greetings from Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the King of Saudi Arabia, and Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, to the President of Botswana.
During the meeting, Ahmed Kattan sent good wishes to the government and the people of Botswana. Mokgweetsi Masisi also sent good wishes to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
During the meeting, Ahmed Kattan and Mokgweetsi Masisi discussed bilateral relations between Saudi Arabia and Botswana. They discussed ways to improve bilateral ties in all fields between the two nations. They went on to discuss regional and international issues of mutual concern.
The President of Botswana voiced support for Saudi Arabia’s bid to host World Expo 2030 in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. He voiced Botswana’s support for the Kingdom.
The host country of World Expo 2030 will be elected by the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) Member States. Saudi Arabia submitted its bid to the Bureau International des Expositions to host Expo 2030 in September 2022. Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud submitted a letter to the Secretary General of the BIE, Dimitri S. Kerkentzes, to win the bid to organize World Expo 2030 in Riyadh.
The candidate cities for World Expo 2030 are Busan, Rome, Odesa, and Riyadh. World Expo is a global gathering of nations to showcase the greatest innovations and find solutions to pressing issues.
The Saudi Envoy arrived in Botswana from Lesotho, a Country in Southern Africa. He visited Lesotho and Eswatini as part of his tour. He met various senior officials in these two countries.
In Botswana, he also met with Lemogang Kwape, Botswana’s Minister of International Affairs and Cooperation.
