The Minister of information, Culture and Tourism of the country, Moammar Al-Eryani said that he strongly condemns the attack claiming that Houthis were behind the grave attack. Reports detailing the attack say that there was an explosion shortly after a plane carrying government officials from a neighboring country, Saudi Arabia, arrived.
Those among majorly affected people are the aid workers and other airport officials but the Prime Minister Maeen Abdulmalik Saeed confirmed through social media that his cabinet members were ‘fine’.
Reports and videos on different social media platforms were soon published where loud blasts and gunfire sounds were heard. As soon as the plane landed in the temporary capital of Yemen, three mortar shells had hit the airport hall, confines a report of Reuters.
Contrary to the reports, the Yemeni minister of communication Naguib al-Awg said that he heard two sounds of explosions and also hinted towards a possible drone attack. "It would have been a disaster if the plane was bombed," said Saeed.
The Prime Minister confirmed their safety through a video message posted on Twitter, where he showed confidence in the cabinet. "We and the members of the government are in the temporary capital of Aden and everyone is fine. The cowardly terrorist act that targeted Aden airport is part of the war that is being waged against the Yemeni state and its great people. The government in Aden is here to stay, and will carry out its mission with support from the people.”
Since 2015, the country has been under serious attack, and the situation of people living there is getting worse day by day. Even though countries are trying to fight the Houthis, who are responsible for the state of the country, the economic condition and the security of the nation is hugely compromised.
Experts have categorized the situation in Yemen as the worst humanitarian crisis in a century, which has left nearly 110,000 people dead.
