Recent reports suggest that Iran may transfer ballistic missiles to Russia, a move seen as a sharp escalation in the Ukraine war. Reports of Imminent Missile Transfers

According to Reuters, Russia is expecting to receive hundreds of Fath-360 close-range ballistic missiles from Iran. These satellite-guided missiles are short-range but highly effective in targeted strikes, and their addition to Russia’s arsenal would represent a significant boost in its military capability during the Ukraine war.

The Wall Street Journal reported that the short-range missiles had already been delivered, citing an unnamed U.S. official. This follows reports that Russian military personnel were undergoing training in Iran on the use of these missiles, further deepening the military cooperation between the two nations.

White House Response

The White House, through National Security Council spokesperson Sean Savett, has reiterated its concerns over the growing security partnership between Iran and Russia. Since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the U.S. has been closely monitoring the deepening ties between the two nations, particularly in the context of arms transfers.

"Any transfer of Iranian ballistic missiles to Russia would represent a dramatic escalation in Iran's support for Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine," Savett stated.
