Women facing endemic violence in the middle east
Women’s rights are the biggest agenda at this time, the globe is crying, upvoting, and maybe using it for their benefit too!
It indicates different things in different fields. All highlighted the need for ‘woman’, all means scholars, activists, and writers. Some of them as a monolithic concept.
First, let me categorically condemn that a woman does not suffer just because of her 'femininity'. There are many other conditions behind it like class, religion, race, etc. Kimberley Crenshaw calls it an INTERSECTION.
This concept helps to understand that violence against women is different for different backgrounds, especially in the Middle East. Gendered norms around masculinity and femininity, persistent patriarchal structures, and problematic identity politics. But the main point is here you could not find the appropriate laws to protect women.
People also hide it as the name of the secret of the house. Such things or views need to be criticized openly, political opinion should come for it!
But you cannot do something when you are living with humans! Protectors are the harmers here. I mean to say no one can protect you from protectors. The middle east failed in this area too!
I am talking about GBV it does not mean that men are free from it, many male colleagues have also faced it in their life. He feigned it to appear as a man. Violence is an issue affecting men and women equally. But my focus is on women.
In the Middle East Women face violence in every stage of their life. From schooling to home, marriage, and the workplace, no place is safe for her. But the system and government are not helping her, in name of helping women get only, sympathy from outbound areas, and advises them to be underground. States are not helping them, reports are just thrown into dustbins of offices.
This issue should be raised globally! Protection means defending a person from attackers not giving just stupid advice. Women should take into the center, and government and politicians should help her by making strong laws.
To be honest, I don't think women can ever reach a level of equality in the Middle East without a voice being silenced.
