Uzbekistan’s President performs Umrah during an official trip to Saudi Arabia
The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, performed the Umrah pilgrimage, an Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca in Saudi Arabia, on Thursday.
The Uzbekistan president was received by several officials from the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque and the Special Force for the Security of the Grand Mosque. The president of the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques, Sheikh Abdulrahman Al-Sudais, was also present.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev's Press-service shared photos from the president’s pilgrimage on Twitter. The Uzbek president was seen performing the rituals with other Saudi officials. He was seen wearing white clothes. He performed rituals in a safe and spiritual atmosphere.
Later on, the ministers held a meeting and discussed bilateral relations and cooperation in various fields. They also reviewed a number of issues of common interest.
The Uzbek president arrived in Jeddah on Wednesday. He was received by Prince Badr bin Sultan, Deputy Governor of the Makkah Region, Minister of Investment Eng. Khalid Al-Falih, and various other officials.
Earlier, President Mirziyoyev visited the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah and performed prayers. He also visited the International Fair and Museum of the Prophet’s Biography and Islamic Civilisation.
This month, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) welcomed the first batch of overseas pilgrims to mark the beginning of the Umrah season in the new Islamic year. The country witnessed a huge number of visitors. This month, Saudi Arabia also removed the preventive barriers around the Holy Kaaba in Mecca’s Grand Mosque.
The country continues to create a safe worshipping environment and provide the finest services to the pilgrims of the Grand Mosque. Recently, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman washed the Holy Kaaba in the Grand Mosque on behalf of King Salman. He was also accompanied by the Saudi minister of sports, Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal.
