“The Growing Concern of Deranging The Election in Somalia Needs An Urgent Action”
I want to share something intriguing about what I read today. It's about the rising concern for Somalia due to the current move of President Mohammed Abdullahi Farmaajo in enlisting 1,500 troops that were surprisingly trained in Eritrea. Not only that, they have joined some members of the Al-Shabab to derange the elections.
This concern is quite serious. That's why no wonder the European Union is setting its focus to call for a smooth electoral process. Along with this, the joined statements of the United Nations, African Union, European Union, and Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) might persuade the country to ensure that the election process will reflect wide consensus this time.
We hope that this kind of call will awaken the leaders of the country to pursue and facilitate the elections with safety and integrity. It will be challenging for the leaders to manage the pressing issues around them, but this call deserves to be taken with proper action.
