Will changing dynamics between Iran-Taliban impact Arab relations?
Two weeks ago, the Taliban’s Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi paid a visit to Iran.
It was a crucial visit from the regional context as Afghanistan is struggling to get big names on its side but with Iran, it can actually gain the full support of the country by influencing the opposition.
While in Iran, the Talibani official met Iran’s chief diplomat Hossein Amir-Abdollahian to discuss ‘serious business’.
The details about the business are not revealed however if one has to assume, it will be related to the support Iranian leaders can provide to Afghani ministers in gaining a confidence vote in the region.
Post this discussion, the Taliban officials also met with senior Iranian leaders who organized talks between them and the Afghan opposition. The only difference between the talks and the documentation is that nothing has been made official as of now.
As per a report, the Taliban is trying its best to make a legitimate talk and make a formal announcement but it does not want to give away that it has been trying to persuade Tehran to formally recognize the new government in Kabul.
If this happens, it will be a big development for the nation that has been looking to gain supporters in recent weeks. The two nations can now look to accompany each other and save from the isolation. This is important to keep the trade and business affairs going.
If things fall in order, this might be a huge shift to the already established dynamics of the Arab world.
Experts in the matter presume that both have tough blood with the United States hence if they form a common enmity ground and look towards the east and neighboring countries, it might truly be beneficial for the two countries.
