Hamas leader meets Iran’s President Raisi as soon as he swears-in

Haniyeh, who is a political leader of Hamas met newly elected Iranian President Raisi to update him about the situation in the Gaza strip. The region is ruled predominantly by militants of Hamas. -ruled Gaza Strip and described the ramifications of May's hostilities with Israel, the militant organization said in a statement.

He talked about the hostilities with the Israeli government in May and presented him with the developments in the Palestinian arena, including the controversial case of East Jerusalem's Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood and the expansion of Israel settlements in the West Bank.

The official statement read that, the Hamas leader stressed that the Palestinian people will continue to battle against the Israeli occupation. 

Raisi, on his part, promised that Iran would keep supporting Hamas. President Raisi, himself is under the lens of international organizations. Earlier he had been accused of human rights abuses when he was a judge. Though he promised to take steps to lift tough U.S. sanctions in return it has cut Iran's oil exports and international banking system.

In June, the UN investigator on human rights in Iran called for an independent inquiry into allegations of state-ordered executions of thousands of political prisoners in 1988 and the role played by Raisi as Tehran deputy prosecutor.

Shortly after the meeting between two leaders, Palestinian terrorists in the Gaza Strip launched incendiary devices into Israel, which ended up sparking four blazes. Gaza balloon unit Ahfad An-Nassar claimed responsibility for the launches, saying it attacked Israel in solidarity with Lebanon. 

In the presence of Hamas leader Ismail Haniya and Hezbollah's deputy secretary-general, Naim Qasem, President Raisi took an oath of becoming the new President of Iran last week. He also mentioned that he would seek to lift the tyrannical sanctions imposed by America, and would not tie the country’s economy to the will of foreigners.
