No Nuclear Deal between US-Iran, Iranian official confirms
After a lot of confusion and discussions, Iran’s Security Council has officially rejected the restoration of the nuclear deal with the United States.
On Tuesday, the decision was confirmed by the spokesperson of the Iranian government who said that the council has rejected the proposed agreement to restore the nuclear accord in exchange for reliefs of sanctions. According to the spokesperson Ali Rabiei, the council is responsible for national-level security decisions and it clearly felt that the proposal did not meet the terms of the Iranian law.
The Iranian side had said earlier that the US will have to unilaterally lift all the sanctions in order for Iran to agree on the deal but since that did not happen, it will not be going ahead with the restoration process of the nuclear deal. After the withdrawal of America from the nuclear acordes, Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency reached a deal to conduct video surveillance.
This surveillance was a major part of the 2015 deal between the two countries. The law, of course, is completely partial towards Iran as it accepts Iran boosting its uranium enrichment projects by three folds.
For the nuclear deal, a local agency quite Rabiei saying, “The principled positions of the Islamic Republic of Iran regarding the JCPOA have always been prepared and followed according to the instructions of the supreme decision-making bodies.” The Iranian diplomat also added that till the terms have been completely accepted and the administration is handed over to the country, there is no way they will be proceeding with the nuclear calls.
However, these claims were soon rejected by the spokesperson of the Supreme National Security Council who said that they did not discuss the said issue rather its elite members discussed the issues where Vienna talks have failed due to the continuous bullying of the US as well as the European countries.
Keyvan Khosravi formally disputed all the claims by the Rabiei saying, “talking about the conformity or nonconformity of something that has no external reality cannot be relevant.” It is to be noted that the two diplomats chose entirely different mediums to make their point.
After Joe Biden took over the White House as the president of the United States, there have been efforts from the American side to convince Iran to rejoin the nuclear accords. Iran and the US have been conducting indirect talks in Vienna since April but the two are yet to reach an agreement that requires the US body to ease the sanctions in exchange for Iran joining the accords.
