Iranian vessels which are approaching Russia spotted in the Baltic Sea
The Danish military has spotted an Iranian destroyer and a large support vessel sailing through the Baltic Sea. It is believed to be heading to Russia to participate in the military parade. The defense ministry of Danish recently posted pictures on social media of their domestically built Iranian destroyer Sahand and the intelligence-gathering vessel Makran passing by the Danish island of Bornholm. These pictures were posted from an official account of the Royal Danish Air Force.
The Pentagon in the USA has been monitoring the ships for about two months as they rounded the southern tip of Africa and appeared set to cross the Atlantic for Venezuela. These ships were under the lens since officials from Pentagon were concerned about the potential introduction of Iranian weapons into the Western Hemisphere and the possible transfer of weapons to Venezuela. This would escalate international terrorism and would be troublesome to contain.
Earlier, Venezuela decided to turn away the Iranian ships which came after the US applied diplomatic pressure on Caracas and the regime of Nicolas Maduro. Along with this, the US also applied diplomatic pressure to other countries through which Iranian vessels passed.
John Kirby, who is the press secretary of the Pentagon says that the delivery of Iranian weapons to the Western Hemisphere would be seen as a provocative act and a threat to our partners. These officials were concerned about the proliferation of weapons in the region.
Earlier the posted pictures from the Royal Danish Defense military showed seven vessels covered and still aboard the Makran. The fast-attack craft aboard the Makran is the type that the Guard uses in its tense encounters with U.S. warships in the Persian Gulf and its narrow mouth.
