Erdogan government remains blinded with its aim to build Ottoman empire, completely ignores human rights
Since coming to power, the Turkish president only showed concerned about building the Ottoman empire in the entire Middle Eastern region and rule the territory with dominance. But this time, reports have revealed that Turkey under the leadership of Erdogan, has been conveniently neglecting human rights in search of power.
Many believe that Erdogan is trying to replicate the Armenian genocide, which had killed over one million people. This has been described as a heinous act that was claimed to be done for ethnic cleansing purposes from the land of the Ottoman Empire. If this were to be repeated again, on such a large scale, the lives of people will be put at great risk.
The Turkish President has never openly addressed the issue nor accepted the fact that a large-scale massacre was held in the ottoman region against the Armenians but with the president of the United States accepting this and acknowledging the event as a massacre, the world views the event differently.
Erdogan is planning to replicate the 1915 scenario so that he could eliminate Armenians and ‘honor the glory’ of the Ottoman empire. This is evident from the fact that Turkey is already trying to control neighboring countries and be a part of their political sphere. The interference of Turkey is not only a threat to a nation’s democracy but also to human rights.
The idea of Turkey being a free and easy world has been erased a long time ago. Now, all that the Erdogan government focuses on is the elimination of foreign agents present on its land and making everything their own. This is especially on a rise against the Armenian community, putting human rights at risk.
Not only do top Turkish leaders continue to exploit the needs of the Armenian community but other community members such as Kurds also have to go through a lot. There is a complete lack of respect for human rights and humanitarian purposes from Turkey and Erdogan has already downed a fearless shape here.
There are grave crimes against women in Turkey. The lack of the government's intent to make stricter laws and ensure that women are safe makes the matter worse. Erdogan is leaving no stone unturned when it comes to torturing Armenians. Even between Azerbaijan and Armenia, Turkey meddled in between only to worsen the situation.
Last year in September, Armenia, and Azerbaijan went into a partial war in the Karabakh region and instead of helping ease down the situation, Turkey chose to side with Azerbaijan and help them kill Armenians. Turkey supplied drones despite the two countries signing a ceasefire agreement.
Armenians are an extremely troubled community. The reason behind this is the Armenian genocide. It was this event that led the community to displace all over the world and not have a common ground for itself. It is only now after the contribution of the world forces that Armenians in Turkey are choosing to stand up for themselves.
Even the Turkish residents have expressed their disapproval for the continued violations of human rights. Those who live there are well aware that Turkey continues to violate human rights and if this continues, thousands and lakhs of people might be killed in the future. The citizens are disproving of such methods and this can be made clear from a video that was recently published where a group of Turkish people could be seen burning the Turkish flag after Biden acknowledged the Armenian genocide.
